Every year, field tests represent a crucial moment for inFarm: it is here that we assess the effectiveness, quality and ease of use of our solutions, side by side with professionals from the agricultural sector.
We regularly conduct targeted tests to improve and disseminate correct practices for the use of our pheromone traps.
In 2024, these initiatives involved numerous pests and crops, always with a very specific goal: to guarantee reliable results and increasingly precise usage protocols.
How we choose field tests
Every year, we start from the selection of products – mainly traps and related pheromone dispensers – and, based on these, we identify the pest on which to carry out the tests.
Field tests are planned with various purposes:
- Quality: We evaluate the performance of the materials and their precision in attracting and capturing insects.
- Improvement: We seek to optimise the performance of the traps by perfecting any components and usage protocols.
- Sharing protocols: we want to share the most effective guidelines for the correct use of our traps with farmers and technicians.
- Practical demonstration: we organise in-situ tests to show our partners how pheromone traps actually work.
Tests carried out in 2024
During 2024, inFarm carried out several tests in collaboration with test centres, agricultural consortia and qualified consultants.
Here’s an overview of the field tests we conducted last year with our partners:
- Monitoring of adults of Agriotes spp. with pheromone traps in Emilia-Romagna, through the Test Centre of the Consorzio Agrari d’Italia
- Monitoring of various fruit-eating insects (Anarsia lineatella, Cydia pomonella, Grapholita molesta) in Emilia-Romagna, through the Testing Centre of the Consorzio Agrario di Ravenna (use of Traptest and Carpo)
- Demonstration test of monitoring of Cydia funebrana on plum trees, in Emilia-Romagna, with the advice of the consultant Benedetto Accinelli (Riff98) and the use of Traptest
- Demonstration test of monitoring of Sesamia nonagroides on corn, in Emilia-Romagna, with the advice of the consultant Benedetto Accinelli (Riff98) and the use of Traptest
- Efficacy test on the monitoring of Bactrocera oleae on olive trees
- in Emilia-Romagna (again with the advice of the consultant Benedetto Accinelli, Riff98), integrating traps and dispensers specific for olive trees (Olive and its pheromone dispenser)
- Efficacy tests in collaboration with official bodies (CNR, universities and regional phytosanitary services) on various fruit crop pests, including invasive alien species
Research and continuous improvement
These activities confirm inFarm‘s commitment to seeking constant improvement of the solutions proposed to the agricultural world. Thanks to field tests, we can perfect our products – and in particular the pheromone trap – year after year, offering ever greater guarantees of reliability and practicality.
inFarm field tests demonstrate a concrete and future-oriented approach to agriculture. With our passion for research and collaboration with industry professionals, we continue to develop increasingly cutting-edge technologies, simplifying farmers’ work and improving the quality of production.
