The warm season brings many risks of infestation which, in many cases, can lead to crop losses. Every day, inFarm works alongside farmers to offer preventive, safe and low environmental impact solutions.
Thanks to monitoring devices and constant research by our R&D department, we continuously improve our offer to promptly respond to the needs of professional agriculture.
Among the many challenges faced by farmers, wireworm infestations are widespread and affect all potato, corn, wheat and soybean growing areas in Italy and Europe, especially France and Germany.
A true story: how to prevent wireworm attacks in the field.
We analysed and experimented with the inFarm system on Tuesday 11 June 2024 during a guided tour in the field, in collaboration with the Consorzi Agrari d’Italia and explored the topic of wireworms in depth.
An established farm manages fields inserted in an intensely cultivated context of arable crops, with very short rotations: usually wheat, soybeans and corn with many monocultures.
This year, the company was forced to sow soybeans again in May, due to a wireworm infestation, which had irreparably damaged the crop.
If the company had intervened in time, installing monitoring devices, it could probably have prevented the infestation and intervened before the damage was done.
inFarm Solution: Pheromones and Monitoring
Once an infestation is detected, it is crucial to act promptly. Crop rotation is essential to prevent future infestations.
However, one of the most effective solutions is the use of pheromones for monitoring and biological control – the spearhead of the inFarm-Isagro Phero Line proposal.
Timely monitoring with pheromones allows for effective intervention before the crop is compromised.
The Yatlorf trap by inFarm, Yatlorf by inFarm, uses three types of pheromones specific to the different species of Elateridae beetles: A. brevis, A. sordidus and A. litigiosus.
The dispensers last 4-5 weeks and come with a handy calendar for alternating between the different types of monitoring.
Why Choose inFarm?
Climate change is altering the flight dynamics of the most common phytophagous insects, introducing new alien species and modifying crops, creating new pest problems. Don’t wait until your crop is compromised! Adopt GEA solutions for effective monitoring and targeted control of wireworms. Protect your crops and ensure a prosperous future for your farming business.
inFarm’s answer to these challenges is the use of pheromones and accurate monitoring to provide targeted and specific solutions to farmers’ needs.
inFarm is constantly committed to continuous improvement and promotion of the use of pheromones in the field, an effective solution with low environmental impact.
And our commitment does not stop here. We are always active in disseminating and spreading good pest management practices in the world of professional agriculture, promoting the use of pheromones and traps for monitoring.
